The BBC site has an interview with four of the young actors who play Harry Potter‘s friends and members of ‘Dumbledore’s Army’ in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie, with Bonnie Wright, (Ginny Weasley), Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), Katie Leung (Cho Chang) and newcomer Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) talking about life in the world of J.K. Rowling’s famous and incredibly popular creation. And I can tell you knowing it is popular from the huge sales is one thing, but working a midnight book launch surrounded by large amounts of incredibly excited kids – and teens who started the series as kids and have grown up on it – really brings home to you just how much they love it. Quite an experience, believe me! Now that the Harry Potter books – and the films too – have been around for a few years we’re seeing young actors coming into the movies who have grown up as fans of the boy wizard, which must be a peculiar experience, to find yourself being part of something you read and watched when younger. Then again, we have a similar situation with the new Doctor Who where we have actors like David Tennant playing the main role while he retains fond memories of watching the show as a child himself (the recent Doctor Who Confidential he fronted covered this in a way that would make any older fan smile).
