Author Ira Levin has passed away from a heart attack in his Manhattan home at the age of 78, his agent has confirmed. Although not exclusively a writer of science fiction, Levin was responsible for some landmark genre tales, including Rosemary’s Baby (filmed by Roman Polanski in the late 60s, one of the more effective creepy Satanist conspiracy flicks of the era), the Boys From Brazil (the definitive “let’s clone Hitler” film) and the Stepford Wives which is one of those rare works which has entered the popular language as a descriptive phrase for seemingly perfect families.
