Jim Henson puppets donated for exhibition

A huge range of puppets and sketches from the collection of the late, great Jim Henson will be donated to Atlanta’s Center for Puppetry Arts by his family, reports the BBC, with a new wing named after Henson being created to display some 700 items, including characters from fantasy works such as Labyrinth and the Dark Crystal as well as the Muppets and other works (no word if it will hold any Henson characters from Farscape though). It seems a highly appropriate setting for Jim’s work – he opened the Center 29 years ago along with his green alter-ego Kermit the Frog. I have to confess to a huge soft spot for the work of Jim and the Henson company – they made me happy as a kid and as an adult their amazing work on films like Dark Crystal or the superb Farscape series still excited my imagination and sense of wonder. What a lovely way to remember his work.
