Dan Goldman, flushed with the delight of seeing his and Anthony Lappe’s Shooting War webcomic nominated for the Eisners, drops me a line to say that he has now returned to his webstrip Kelly on the excellent ACT-I-VATE! collective.
“I am writing to inform you that after long winter months, I have returned home to “KELLY“. The rollercoaster ride of SHOOTING WAR has passed beyond the dark tunnel of deadlines and there is blue sky all around, leaves outside the window are green again, and we pick up exactly where we left off in February with Max and Theresa about to get down, so the NSFW light is still on, office monkeys:
Where the hell have I been? Nose-to-the-Cintiq since December, the SHOOTING WAR graphic novel is in the can, and a fiery lass she’s grown up to be. The hardcover hits bookstores Nov. 19 from Grand Central Publishing (formerly Warner Books), accompanied by promo tours in the UK and the US (details to come). Screwed down into my desk for the last four months, I’m triply excited to see what the Royal You think of the remastered and extended book version.
And lo, within literal days of finishing my darling, her online run on Smithmag.net has been nominated for an Eisner award for “Best Digital Comic”, the comic industry’s equivalent of an Oscar. I continue to be both flattered and flabbergasted at the world’s reaction to this comic, but even being nominated is a special special thing to me.

(frame from the latest episode of Dan Goldman’s Kelly – choc full of naughty bits that will certainly infuriate the Mothers for the Censorship of Good Comics, I am pleased to say)
So… what’s next, Dan? Say it with me now, through smiling teeth: just more and more “KELLY” weekly, uninterrupted, through the rest of the year.
Talk to you soon, my lovelies. It feels sunny and gorgeous to be back.”
