Matt Kindt works at Marvel Super Heroes: the Exhibition

There is an exhibition based on the Marvel superheroes traveling the US (and no doubt a cert for somewhere like London’s Science Museum at some point) called “Marvel Super Heroes: the Exhibition”. Aimed in a sort of pseudo-science way at ostensibly teaching kids about the potential science behind super powers and getting them to grasp some basic scientific knowledge I guess it is a news story in and of itself. What makes it more intriguing though is that for the St. Louis leg they are actually employing real comics artists to work at the event. Matt Kindt author and illustrator of among others Pistolwhip and 2 sisters (both an excellent read if you haven’t looked at them) is one of those artists taking part where he is helping the kids learn how they can themselves make comics. The piece from the brilliantly titled Suburban Journals is really a pretty nice interview with Kindt more than about the exhibition. Look out for Matt’s new book Super Spy from Top Shelf this summer. As an aside in a different life I was for a few years one of the organisers of a licensed travelling exhibition based around Star Trek which toured 10 European cities – there are some quiet moments in the exhibition game but believe me there are easier ways to make a living than entertaining thousands of kids a day. Well done those taking part.
