The excellent ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Archive Project blog has a special treat for comics fans – while archive supporter John Ellis was working with the family of Milton Caniff on material for a DVD of the live-action series of the Steve Canyon character he found original inks and Sunday pages the family were unaware of. They have generously allowed the AHAA to digitise them as part of their cartoon database, what a find!(link via Boing Boing)

Fantagraphics has a new book on Milton Caniff, sometimes dubbed the ‘Rembrandt of comics art’ due out this spring, while IDW are kicking off their new Library of American Comics series of deluxe reprints of classic material with Caniff’s Terry and the Pirates, one of the great adventure comics (and, by the way, one of our regular newsletter special offers – we’re giving away 40% on it if you pre-order before Friday 6th of April; subscribe free for regular special deals like this. Talk about good timing!).
