The trailer for the new Asterix film, Asterix and The Olympic Games, featuring Albert Uderzo and Rene Goscinny’s immortal and internationally beloved characters, has been made available online, although is seems to be more of an early ‘teaser’ trailer rather than showing much in the way of scenes from the film (Asterix and Obelix don’t actually appear). The new film is directed by Frédéric Forestier and Thomas Langmann and features Clovis Cornillac as Astérix, Gérard Depardieu as Obélix (he may be one of the finest French actors of his generation but he is also physically just about perfect for Obelix – Joe), Alain Delon as Jules Cesar (Julius Caesar) and Benoît Poelvoorde as Brutus, with an expected release date of January 30th, 2008 in Belgium and France.
