Comics and cartoons

Read Yourself Raw is one of those sites that I know bubbles just under the radar of most people which I’ve have always thought a shame as it is simply the best designed comics site on the web in terms of its presentation. Essentially the front page looks like a magazine cover and then takes you into its features – the rotating feature being monthly previews of many of the best comics and art related titles that will be coming your way 2 months hence. It’s like a mini Previews cut down to the essentials for those who seek their comics entertainment outside of Superheroes. Tim Webber who runs the site has near impeccable tastes and if you followed his list of potential purchases you wouldn’t be going far wrong in the Indy comics world. Tim’s site also carries an excellent essential reading list and a whole load of very well done artist profiles . RYR had stopped updating for a couple of months and we had feared the worst but it turns out Tim was just under a heavier workload than usual and the site is back updated for May in all its glory. Go bookmark it and check in once a month for those previews. P.S. Tim seems to have picked Rian Hughes’ “Yesterday’s Tommorrows” as his fave title of the month – something we would strongly concur with as we have gone so far as to do a limited edition in a slipcase signed by Rian and including some prints available nowhere else. Go buy it before we increase the price (currently around the same retail as the normal edition).
