Shooting War in the media

Film, TV and radio

Dan Goldman tells me that as part of the publisher’s push for the UK print edition of Shooting War he and Anthony Lappé will be doing media appearances to support the launch of the graphic novel; in addition to the talk at Comica on Tuesday 6th (see here) Dan has confirmed a couple of other slots – Books Café for BBC Radio Scotland on Monday 5th of November (so remember, remember!!) at 1.15pm and on the same day an interview on Channel 5 News which starts at 7.15pm. I’ve actually contributed to BBC Scotland’s Radio Café myself (they cover books, films, arts and more regularly and gave both book and film versions of V For Vendetta very good coverage and discussion) and think they will be in good hands there (plus if you miss it you can hear it on the BBC’s listen again feature for up to 7 days afterwards).

I’m really pleased, not only that the guys are getting such backing from their publisher (Weidenfeld & Nicolson, a very respected imprint of major publisher Orion) but that a graphic novel is being treated with such interest. I recall back when they first announced a print deal off the back of the well-received webcomic, thinking this was exactly the sort of comics material – clever, well-presented and very relevant to today’s events – that was likely to catch the eye of the mainstream media; I’m really delighted to see that prediction coming true.
