Following Catherine Tate’s comments on Jonathan Ross’ Radio 2 show at the weekend, where she asserted that the next season of Doctor Who could be David Tennant’s final one, Tennant himself has come forward to say clear up all the rampant speculation by issuing a categorical, er, no, well, maybe, well… Speaking to the BBC he commented: “I started getting all these phone calls on Saturday lunchtime saying apparently you’re leaving Doctor Who. Catherine Tate’s just announced it on Radio 2 – thanks Catherine!I said to her on Monday morning did you know you’ve caused a minor diplomatic incident? She was completely oblivious that the phone had been ringing off the hook.”

Sadly he doesn’t seem to have done anything to end that press interest and rampant fan speculation because when asked if it wasn’t true he neither confirmed nor denied it, just replied that “I’m doing four more specials and beyond that no one’s asked me to make any decisions and I’m quite happy to be enigmatic for as long as possible.” So there you go, hope that makes everything clear as a Metebelis crystal!

The Christmas special episode, Voyage of the Damned, set on a space-going Titanic, was premiered at the Science Museum in London to a celebrity audience which included Aardman’s Nick Park, who remarked that the new series of Who had been some of the best television he’d seen in recent years. The BBC website has a video clip of the launch (with some brief scenes of the episode).
