Simpsons movie comparisons

Here’s an enjoyable bit of fun to brighten your Monday – we all know the Simpsons has been brilliant at pastiching classic movie scenes right from its very beginnings. Sometimes it can be as simple as a single line (such as when Homer’s new home business is ruined by nasty chiropracters and Moe comforts him with the line “forget it, Homer, it’s Chirotown”) or even a wordless scene with just a few bars of movie music (Darth Vader’s theme played to a scene of Monty Burns behind his desk; I’ve had to explain several times why that is so funny to non Star Wars fans) to entire scenes which blur the line between pastiche and homage, such as the one below lifted from Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane. The Adventures of the Accordion Guy site has dozens of Simpsons scenes juxtaposed against their filmic inspiration – why not have a bash and see how many you can name (without cheating!)? Please, give credit to them: http://www.actualidadsimpson.c.....y/de-cine/
The site joeydevilla.com just copied everything without giving credit.

[...] On Monday I mentioned a site found via Boing Boing which had posted up frames from various Simpsons episodes against frames from famous films which the scenes were pastiching. Dario left a comment saying that a Spanish site had actually run this first; now obviously I don’t know who did which posts and in which order, but the Spanish site Actualidad Simpson does have a lot of of these comparisons and offers more fun for the Simpsons/movie enthusiast, plus this site actually discusses the film and scenes (the King Kong/King Homer is especially good, with a lot more frames to compare). I picked up most of the references without needing to look at the text which either means my movie knowledge is better than I thought or more than likely it means I need to stop watching so many films and get out more. (warning – there is a little very tame nudity) [...]
