Comics and cartoons

Oliver Lambden and Laurence Powell have a new publication out: Tales From the Flat Collected Edition Volume One. As the name suggests this is an omnibus edition, collecting the first three issues of TFTF, which is a very enjoyable comic from the homegrown talent in our British small press scene that should help fill the hole in the lives of those of us who still miss ‘Spaced’. The guys from Modern Monstrosity Comics have already established a name for themselves in the UK small press scene, but if you haven’t come across TFTF yet (or you’ve been thinking about ordering some but just haven’t gotten around to it) then this is a perfect jumping on point to introduce you to flatmates Oliver, Laurence, Connor, Fred and their superhero chum Vicky and at a damned good price, so go on, give it a bash!

And for TFTF fans there is also a new small press release from Jake Harold who does the colouring work on the covers for TFTF. Jake’s just launched his first solo comic Tards, the tale of a superhero team called the Tridents, who have only one major weakness as a superteam – they aren’t actually superheroes, except in their heads. If TFTF appeals to the Spaced fan then I reckon Tards might go down well with those of us who got a good giggle out of Mystery Men – check out his website for more.
