Books, Comics and cartoons

The Newsarama Blog spotted something I missed in the Bryan Talbot interview on Comics Alliance (I was busy trying to get Tweedledum and Tweedledee out of the Blogcave again, cheeky scamps) – NBM are to publish The Art of Bryan Talbot this autumn. You wait ages for a major new Bryan Talbot work then get to luxuriate in two in the same year, not that I am complaining! It will be interesting to see Bryan’s various works alongside one another, from the old underground comics days to Alice in Sunderland – I just hope NBM takes the Joe Pruett approach he espoused with the Art of Brian Bolland and put the art into some context rather than simply a ‘pretty pictures’ book. Obviously in such an art book we primarily want to see the images, but some text to go with it and a bit of history really enhance this type of publication in my view and Bryan’s range deserves that kind of detail and attention.
