Books, New arrivals

JK Rowling has announced the publication date for the final volume of the incredibly popular Harry Potter novels, the Deathly Hallows, due this summer on the 21st of July (sighing booksellers round the world will be marking it on their calendars and preparing to gird their literary loins for waves of enthusiastic youngsters at midnight sales), apparently the tenth anniversary of the publication of the first volume, according to the BBC site. The author, who famously began writing the series in a cafe a few yards from where our Blogcave is located in Edinburgh, has already said that two characters will die in the final book, which has, of course, set fans to wondering if the boy wizard himself will be one of those. Personally I’d prefer to go and read Neil Gaiman’s Books of Magic myself, but even if they aren’t your cup of tea you can’t ignore how they have inspired legions of readers (especially younger ones) to pick up more books.
