Comics and cartoons, News

As in many countries new rules are being brought to bear in the Netherlands regarding personal identity. The Register carries news that one Dutchman decided to show his feelings towards the government’s new rules by painting his face to look like the Joker from Batman; amazingly he actually had his picture taken and got one of the new, supposedly more stringently enforced ID cards. Dutch politicians are in a tizzy over the potential security implications -presumably they are worried Holland will become a haven for illegal supervillian refugees, or perhaps the losing side of Civil War will seek refuge in Holland. I’m sure some British politicians will soon be explaining why we need biometric ID cards in the UK to protect ourselves from comics characters with evil intentions. FPI tried to contact the Gotham City PD, but no-one was available for comment.
