Each autumn experts in the toys and retailing industries pick out the toys they think will be the most sought after for Christmas – these are the ones they expect will have parents fighting one another over in busy stores, seasonal goodwill forgotten as they desperately try to get the must-have toy for their present list before they vanish from the shelves. We’ve seen it many times, from the unbelievable rush of parents demanding Buzz Lightyear figures a few years back to the demand for one of last Christmas’ top-tipped toys, the Cyberman helmet voice changer.
We certainly had a wave of people trying to buy this from our stores and website last year and it was a constant struggle to try and keep sourcing more to meet the popular demand. I haven’t seen a website release on this year’s top twelve Christmas must-haves yet, but the BBC Breakfast News this morning did briefly feature them and I couldn’t help but notice another Doctor Who item in this year’s list – another voice-changer, this time the Dalek Sec/human hybrid mask. As with the extremely popular Cyberman helmet this features good sound samples from the show as well as the voice changer allowing you to talk just like the character. And the Dalek Sec mask comes with the added ‘eugh’ factor – kids will love it, mothers are likely to find it repulsive, kids are likely to find that adds to the pleasure because grossing out adults is fun in and of itself. If this sells like last year’s Cyberman helmet then supplies could dry up fairly quickly, so if you’re thinking on picking up a Dalek Sec mask (they’ve just started arriving in our stores) for a present you might be best to do it sooner rather than later.

These look great for boys – but what about girls? If you have a little girl you’re shopping for this year, TyGirlz is a fun one! They are dolls that you can play with in your everyday life, as well as online. I work with Ty Inc., and looks like these are going to be hitting wish lists soon.
