The Register reports on a slightly more unusual story from the Star Wars 30th anniversary events – Darth Vader being arrested in Australia. One fan in Melbourne apparently alarmed diners at a local eatery as he walked past in black, with a black backpack and a replica blaster. Armed police shortly arrived, surrounded him and then arrested the unfortunate fan; he will now be charged with carrying an unlicensed firearm. Has anyone told the plod in Australia that Star Wars blasters aren’t actually real firearms?!?! What next? A cosplaying fan in Vader suit arrested and taken to the Hague to stand trial from crimes against humanity?
