Film, TV and radio

Sad news from the BBC with the announcement that Verity Lambert passed away on Thursday, just a day before the 44th anniversary of an odd little television show she was the very first producer of – Doctor Who. As producer on the very first series with William Hartnell back in 1963 she sheperded the embryonic show through technical difficulties and around the news of the Kennedy assassination which threw schedules into disruption. A saddened Russell T Davies commented “There are a hundred people in Cardiff working on Doctor Who and millions of viewers, in particular many children, who love the programme that Verity helped create.”
