Comics and cartoons, General

Webcomic Jack of All Blades has posted a pastiche of the super-geek webcomic XCKD‘s home/pastiche to Boing Boinger and top SF author Cory Doctorow (blogged back here). Now I’m blogging a strip paying homage to a strip about blogging – it’s multi-referential postmodernism gone made, I tells ya! Earlier this year Cory was delighted when XCKD (a deceptively simple cartoon using stick figures) name-checked him in a strip involving a historical re-enactment player from the future who had come back to investigate how early bloggers really worked and to see if they really did all blog from hot air balloons while wearing capes. No, only Cory Doctorow was the response… Of course Cory is now going from being named in an online strip to having print comics based on his short fiction coming out (from IDW), so there’s another layer of reference for postmodernist theorists to stroke their chins over. If you’re not just a comics reader but a SF and computer geek then this is hilarious, if you aren’t then you should probably move along and leave us to it…
