Scottish scribe Steven Moffat is to write the big screen adaptation of Tintin currently being prepped by the dream-team of Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg. Steven has penned a lot of scripts for British TV over the years, including the recent modern take on Stevenson’s classic tale, Jekyll starring James Nesbit (which probably sparked the rash of rumours Nesbit was next to play the Doctor if and when David Tennant leaves) and has been on a serious winning streak with science fiction fans with his scripts for episodes in the first three seasons of the revamped Doctor Who. The two part Empty Child/ The Doctor Dances (season 1) and The Girl in the Fireplace (season 2) won the prestigious Hugo Award, showing how international the appeal of the revived show now was (and both were corking tales). Steven also contributed one of the best stories for season three of Who with the fantastically creepy Blink and has been confirmed as one of the writers for season four (hurrah!). Jackson, Spielberg and now Steven Moffat – I am now officially allowing myself to get pretty excited about the big screen Tintin. (thanks to eagle-eyed Marko at Neorama who spotted this on the Hollywood Reporter before I did)
