Comics and cartoons

Via ICV2 comes a link to the YALSA top ten great graphic novels for teens; the list is presented in alphabetical order rather than with any form of ranking and includes a good variety of graphic novels, from Warren Ellis and Stuart Immonen’s Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. Volume 1 to Gilbert Hernandez’ Sloth, Brian Wood and Becky Cloonan’s Demo: the Collection and, unsurprisingly, the all-conquering American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang. Brian K Vaughan is the only person to have more than one spot, being recommended for Runaways (a favourite with my Coffee & Comics co-founder Chris) and Pride of Baghdad (one of my top picks for 2006). If you are looking for reading recommendations, be they for teens or adults, you would be well-advised to check out this list.
