Variety is reporting that the fourth Terminator film -”Terminator Salvation: the Future Begins” – is set for a May 2009 release in the US. The new movie is the first in a mooted trilogy of Terminator films starring Christian ‘Batman’ Bale as John Connor; filming commences in New Mexico this May and although the story is under wraps it is thought this new series of movies will deal with the resistance to the machines following the nuclear devastation wrought by Skynet at the end of T3, meaning we will get to see some of the future battles we’ve only glimpsed in sequences from the previous flicks.

Meantime UK viewers are finally getting their new Terminator fix with The Sarah Connor Chronicles which finally began airing on Virgin at the end of last week and stars Firefly/Serenity’s delectable Summer Glau as a female Terminator sent back to protect a young John Connor. Since the show is set after the end of the second Terminator movie (and ignoring the third film) I’m guessing this means there won’t really be much scope for any crossover between it and the new films.
