Bettie Page, one of the most iconic glamour gals of the 20th century, is reported to be seriously ill in hospital. The 85-year old had been receiving treatment for pneumonia and was about to be released from hospital care when she suffered a heart attack; according to ICV2 she remains in a coma in intensive care. After her career wound down she was all but forgotten for many years, but a revival of interest in the 90s grew rapidly until Bettie’s iconic dark hair and gorgeous face and figure became part of the popular culture, influencing artists in many fields, from comics (most especially the late Dave Stevens) to the modern wave of Burlesque (would Dita Von Teese exist without Bettie?).
