Birmingham International Comics Show 2008

The third annual Birmingham International Comics Show is coming up in less than a month’s time. It will be the second I’ve attended (they deliberately waited to have the first one once I’d left the city) and I’m hoping it will be every bit as enjoyable as last years.

The guest list is looking suitably impressive: John Cassaday, Dave Gibbons doing the Watchmen book launch), David Lloyd, Paul Cornell, Mark Chiarello, Oliver Copiel, Michael Golden and more UK comic folks than you can reasonably fit into a bar. On the subject of which, if you are thinking of coming to it may I suggest you get down for the Friday night launch party. Much enjoyment last year watching the cream of British talent drink the bar dry. Of course, following the night of comic jollity there’s a full program of events across two days in Birmingham’s Millenium Point building. Highlights of that iclude: the Dave Gibbons book launch, John Cassaday, a DFC panel and a Tank Girl at 20 panel.

Tickets available at £10 for one day or £16 for the weekend.
(Pictures from BICS 2007 here, but as an interesting aside I did try to google the website using BICS as many people like to call it. First result: Not the same thing at all.)
