Katherine's corner

When I first read the family drama Chute de Vélo by Étienne Davodeau, I was stunned by it. I immediately decided that at the earliest opportunity, I would have to do a translation of it for ComixInflux (see here for more on ComixInflux – Joe), so as to bring it to a wider audience. Recently I completed my translation, so you can read Chute de Vélo even if you don’t speak French. And you should, because it’s awfully good: a slow accumulation of details that add up to a punch in the gut when their significance is revealed. Davodeau’s longer work Les Mauvaises Gens was listed by Beaux Arts magazine as one of their 50 essential graphic novels (it also gets a good mention in the first European Comic Art issue – Joe); I thought their list was a bit odd, but I had no quarrel with including Les Mauvaises Gens, because Davodeau really is that good.
