Classical Comics, the new UK publisher who are creating some very fine graphic novel adaptations of classic literature (complete with notes and more to help them work as study aides – very handy for teachers, especially when dealing with reluctant readers or difficult texts), has announced a deal with Japanese publisher Ittosha Incorporated. Ittosha will be taking the already published Henry V and Macbeth works (with art by Neill Cameron and Jon Haward, respectively) and Classical’s forthcoming titles such as Jane Eyre and Frankenstein also set to follow for a Japanese audience. While I am usually very happy to see other language comics being translated for the English-language audience I have to say I’m even more delighted to see it happening the other way round for a change – very well done to all at Classical.

“When we first came across the Classical Comics range, we immediately saw the potential for a Japanese translation.
