Awards, Books

Voting opens today on the first David Gemmell Legend Awards, created to honour and celebrate the life of one of the UK’s best loved writers of fantasy. There’s an impressive long list of nominees on the site which the organisers want readers to look at and select their own preferred book to whittle the selection down to a final shortlist. The first hundred voters will receive a special thank-you from the DGLA of a strictly limited edition Legend wristband (see the site for details on how to claim) and one lucky voter, chosen at random, will receive signed copies of all five of the final shortlisted novels. Authors on the longlist include Richard Morgan, Mark Chadbourn, Joe Abercrombie, Brian Ruckley, Justina Robson, Fiona MacIntosh, Stephen Hunt, Liz Williams, Alan Campbell and many more, so there’s a lot of very good books and writers to choose from (I’m already debating with myself who I will cast my vote for).
