Eisner awards time

Via Tom Spurgeon’s Comics Reporter comes the full list of the weekend’s Eisner Award winners. James Jean continues to be unstoppable, winning yet another award for his cover art – any day now he will take over the world and rule us all… Y: the Last Man, which has just finished a powerhouse run (one of my favourite series of recent years), picked up a couple of gongs, with Pia Guerra and Jose Marzan picking up the award for Best penciller/inker and Best continuing series. The ’season 8′ Buffy comics won Best new series (now I come to think of it perhaps James Jean won’t take over the world, he will share control of it with Joss Whedon. And perhaps the world might be better for it) and Gerard Way’s Umbrella Academy won the Best limited series gong. David Petersen’s Mouse Guard picked up both Best publication for kids and Best graphic album (reprint). Nick Abadzis, Chris Ware and Dan Clowes were also (rightly) honoured and its great to see healthy showing from D&Q and Fantagraphics in there.
