Engage cloaking device

General, News

Scientists in the US have announced that they are a step closer to bringing a long-cherished science fiction (and fantasy for that matter) device to reality – an invisibility cloak. Nano-material bends incoming light around the person or object, although at the moment the effect is more like the sort of semi-transparent camouflage used by the J’em Hadar in Deep Space Nine than full invisibility. The military applications are pretty obvious, but I’d imagine a cloak which makes the wearer invisible, or at least very difficult to focus on, would also be very handy for Banksy as he goes about his anonymous stencil art in public spaces.
