Graphic Novels has a list of the winners of the Max und Moritz prizes, pretty much the pre-eminent German comics awards, given out at last weekend’s Erlangen Comics Salon. The Best Comic Strip award went to Nicolas Mahler for “Flaschko – Der Mann in der Heizdecke” (”the man in the electric blanket”), Best German Language Artist went to Anke Feuchtenberger (a firm favourite with some of the FPI staff) for “Die Hure H wirft den Handschuh” and Reinhard Kleist picked up the gong for his Johnny Cash bio-comic “Cash – I see a darkness”, which is one a bunch of us here are eagerly waiting to see in the English language edition (which looks like it might be next year now, I think). A special award for lebenswerk (life’s work, more or less) was given out to Blighty’s own bearded wizard of comics, Alan Moore.
