Comics and cartoons

Over on the excellent Bear Alley Steve Holland has a guest posting from Richard Sheaf; we’ve talked on here a number of times about the interesting comics works in Europe and how we don’t see enough of them translated and republished for the English language readers. Well, here’s the flipside, with Richard taking a look at British comics which were collected and republished in France; Dan Dare appeared in – rather embarassingly, titter ye not – Supercrack, while M.A.C.H 1 showed up in Force X. As Richard observes some of these reprinted picture library collections used new cover art but sometimes they would rather shamelessly crib from the original source, as in this M.A.C.H. 1 image (below) where, as Richard points out, you can even still see the old Thrill icon. (tip of the hat to Dirk at Journalista who spotted it before I did)
