Comics and cartoons, Interviews

Dangerous Ink 2.jpg

The second issue of Dangerous Ink, the UK and US’s newest alternative arts and culture magazine, is just hitting the shelves and among the features in this issue are looks at The Shatner Show (we love the Shat!), Kreepy Kat, an interview with Chris Ryniak and an in-depth (and well illustrated) interview with Frank Quitely, where Will Couper asks him about Electric Soup (still fondly remembered by many of a certain age here), starting off at that great proving ground for British comics talent that is 2000 AD and on into doing work for DC’s Vertigo, teaming up with Grant Morrison, All Star Superman (or ASSman as it has become known, apparently!) and what great Mediterranean salads he can whip up. Frank also dispenses some advice for up-and-comers trying to get into the comics biz :

“DI: Any tips for people, particularly artists, wanting to break into comics?

FQ: Yeah, self-publish. Self-publishing is defi nitely the way to go. Not only is it better for you when editors are looking at it, but loads more people will actually see your work. You’re much more likely to create an opportunity if you publish something yourself first…”
