Dominic Green, an author some may remember from his appearances in the august pages of that pillar of the literary SF community, Interzone, is giving up on trying to get novels published. Despite his Interzone credentials and a Hugo nomination in 2006 he’s had no luck with most publishers (a plight I’m sure many writers will empathise with) and has decided to post them online, free, so at least perhaps some readers can have a look and hopefully enjoy them. There are two adult works – Abaddon and Smallworld – and a young adult work, Saucers and Gondoliers.
And since I mentioned Interzone, I should also mention that Interzone’s sister publication Black Static – “transmissions from beyond” – the home for the odd, weird, horror and the macabre, is out now. The seventh issue has the usual compliment of articles and reviews, plus, like Interzone, some interesting new short fiction, such as Bruce Holland Rogers’ The Reason for the Season, which is a particularly timely tale for the Witching Season and Halloween. Actually, the entire issue is perfect reading for getting into a suitably ghoulish mood for Halloween, or Samhain to those of us of the Celtic persuasion; the new issue is out now and can be found at your local FPI or via the TTA Press site.

This bodes ill for hacks like myself if craftsmen like Dominic can’t get a publishing deal.
