If you happen to be in Paris during the summer, don’t forget to stop by the Gallerie BDartist(e) in the Rue Condorcet. Last Tuesday, British artist and film-maker Dave McKean opened a new exhibition of his work there. The show, which runs through the summer until September 13th, features original work from his famous Cages books, as well as two hundred ink drawings from his Squink! series, including self-portraits, studies and figure drawings which, on a second glance, never seem to be quite right.

All artworks included in the exhibition are also on display on the gallery’s website, and they’re for sale, for about 900 Euros a piece. It pays to check out the gallery itself, though, since, as soon as a piece is sold, it’s removed from the site.

For the less fortunate, there’s always the Cages book (which unfortunately seems to be sold out right now), and the new book Squink (collecting all artwork from the exhibition), which is being published by the gallery in collaboration with Allen Spiegel Fine Arts, McKean’s London Gallery. For more about McKean (who will also be attending another European cultural capital this summer – he’s a guest at the Edinburgh International Book Festival in August – Joe) and his earlier visit to Paris this month check out Actua BD (in French).
