Barry Nugent tells us that the Geek Syndicate boys scored an invite to the press launch for Frank Miller’s film version of the late Will Eisner’s The Spirit and the resulting audio of the Q&A session is now online as part of their latest show: “Earlier this month Geek Syndicate was able to attend the UK press junket for the Spirit. We were shown 25 minutes from the movie in the form of six clips and then allowed to pitch questions to the cast and crew. In attendance was producer Deborah Del Prete, Director Frank Miller, Samuel L Jackson, Eva Mendes and Scarlett Johansson. It was a huge thing for us and I think for comic related podcasting (in the UK anyway) to be taken seriously in this way.

(like many men Denny Colt had commitment problems in his relationships)
At last (after getting permission from lionsgate) we can present our coverage of the Press Junket as the main feature in our latest episode (The episode is about 90 minutes our spirit chat interspersed with interview clips takes up the last 30 minutes). As far as we know you can’t hear these clips anywhere on the net. It seems podcasters at press conferences (well in the UK at least) is pretty new.

(Scarlett Johansson the Spirit Silken Floss, because what’s an Eisner post without a seductive femme fatale?)
So (oh and maybe there were a few other reporters there as well) pitched a few questions to cast and crew. They tell us how they came onboard the movie and what people can expect from it. They reveal whether they actually read any of the Spirit comics during their preparation for the role. Frank and Deborah give us their thoughts on what they think Spirit’s creator, Will Eisner, might have made of the movie. Sam Jackson reveals his love of comics and I ask him what comics he does carry around in his travel bag.“

Nice podcast!
I did wonder who the geeky fellow to my left was who was asking about Sam Jackson’s comic reading habits! I was there covering the event for Den of Geek.
