The one and only Hunt Emerson has updated his recently revamped Large Cow website with a brand new gallery showing some of the work he has done on the famous Victorian writer John Ruskin. Along with collaborator Kevin Jackson, Hunt has previously produced two comics about Ruskin’s work (How to be Rich and How to See), commissioned by the Ruskin Foundation, which is based in Brantwood, Ruskin’s former home in the gorgeous Lake District of northern England.

A third Ruskin-themed comic, provisionally entitled How To Work, is in the works and will appear, er, well ‘eventually’ says Hunt! He and Kevin are hoping to publish the third alongside the first two parts as a collected book edition. The first two were not offered up for general sale but were distributed to institutions like schools, although Hunt does have some copies left which can be bought via his Large Cow webstore. How to See is part of an ongoing educational project involving schools and museums, with Hunt planning some workshops in Birmingham in the near future. Go and enjoy some good comics art from one of our best and explore some of Britain’s rich literary history at the same time (and let’s hope it makes more people want to read books as well as comics).
