It’s probably fair to say that without Thompson and Groth there would never have really been a developed ‘art’ comics movement. We all owe them a debt. Oh, and maybe the Hernandez brothers gave up after a couple of failed fanzines – if comics were Bedford Falls, Thompson and Groth would have been George Bailey.
