Some great news from the BBC – in addition the recent announcement of multi-channel science fiction drama to look forward to early next year Radio 4 has looked at the very favourable response to comedian (and sometimes cartoonist) Phill Jupitus’ broadcasts on comics and cartoonist and decided to air four fifteen minute slots on the theme of comics. The Tuesday just past saw Phill’s talk with Doonesbury creator Gary Trudeau, which should still be available via the Listen Again feature (a god send) and there’s also, I’m pleased to say, a permanent link for that episode here. The next three weeks will see three further programmes in the series:
Tuesday 14th October at 0930 – Cartoonists with Attitude (Mikhaela Reid, Brian McFadden, Jen Sorensen, Masheka Wood)
Tuesday 21st October at 0930 – Charles Peattie/Russell Taylor, creators of Alex
Tuesday 28th October at 0930 – the great Bill ‘Zippy the Pinhead’ Griffith
(cover to Welcome to Dingburg: a Zippy Collection, a new Bill Griffiths volume coming from Fantagraphics this winter)
For more details or to use the Listen Again feature check Phill Jupitus’ Strips on the Radio 4 site. Later episodes may also get the permanent link treatment, but I’m told that’s not quite decided yet so best to play safe and tune in or use the listen again feature to hear the shows for seven days after their transmission. (thanks to Jennifer Clarke from Radio 4 for the heads-up).
