The latest issue of that excellent stalwart of the British science fiction scene, Interzone, is out now (issue #214, dated February 2008). This issue’s short fiction – one of the components Interzone is rightly respected for – boasts a fairly lengthy ’short’ by Jason Stoddard, “Far Horizon”, which you can get your teeth into, more short fiction from the award-winning (and bloody good) Christopher Priest, “Pseudo Tokyo” by Jennifer Linnea, the usual compliment of book reviews, including a page of manga reviews by Sarah Ash in addition to the science fiction and fantasy reviews and, just ahead of the release of the eagerly awaited new Culture novel “Matter” (which I heartily endorse, a great mix of huge-scale SF with the personal level and a critique about the abuse of power and immorality of war), Paul Raven interviews one of Scotland’s most successful exports in the genial form of Mister Iain M Banks.
