Alison Carroll, a 23 year old gymnast from London, has been announced as the new ‘Lara Croft’. With a new Boob Raider… Terribly sorry, I meant Tomb Raider… game, Underworld, due for release this November, some twelve years on from the original, ground-breaking game, Alison has been announced as the official Lara model, following in the footsteps of the likes of Nell McAndrew and Rhona Mitra (last seen in the recent Neil Marshall flick Doomsday).

Lara has become an iconic character in her own right, conquering various media from the original games to books, comics and movies, but she’ll still have an uphill struggle to compete and stand out in the modern, ferocious world of video gaming where players take cutting edge 3-d graphics and movie-like scenarios for granted now. Not like when I was a lad playing Manic Miner on a Speccy 48K… The official Tomb Raider site has a teaser trailer and some other bits and pieces up. (via the BBC)
