As another bank holiday weekend retreats into the distance don’t despair – next weekend sees the third Prestonpandemonium comics event in East Lothian, just down the coast a little from Edinburgh. Jan Barker kindly sent us an update on what we can expect at this year’s Prestonpandemonium: there will be several traders: Red Hot Comics, Chris Tesdale, Paul Burke, Laurie Grant, Monkey Loft, Proudhuff, Steven Montgomery and Michael Coen; a number of creators, including Nulsh, Paul von Scott, Jeremy Briggs, Graeme Neil Reid (see here for a review of one of Graeme’s comics I picked up at the Inverness gig), Tom Cochrane, Alan Tanner, Gavin Inglis, Thomas Crielly and Magda Boreysza.
In addition to this there will be more events for visitors to enjoy – Jim Alexander (Birds of Prey; Batman; 80 Page Giant; Captain Britain and Metal Hurlant) will be holding a talk on pitching and scripting (30 mins approximately) at 12.30 p.m. There will be a silent auction of donated artwork and other comic related items for the Oxfam DEC Burma Cyclone Appeal. Prestonpandemonium is a part of wider arts festival which covers several coastal towns, the 3 Harbours Festival, which has a number of events including art exhibitions by Malcy Duff, MuralFest, Graffitti Car workshop and live music all day. When this year’s Prestonpandemonium draws to a closes at 3.00 pm., a bus will be waiting to take visitors on a free guided tour of Local Heroes: The Art of the Graphic Novel at the NLS. Thanks to Jan for the update – Prestonpandemonium takes place this Saturday (31st) from 12 to 3pm at the Prestoungrange Gothenburg; for more details check the official website.
