Not comics, I know, but Quentin Blake has been responsible for some truly wonderful illustrations and I reckon a goodly amount of our readership has either grown up with his pictures in their children’s books or else bought those books for their own children (or both), so I think he is more than worthy of a quick mention here. The BBC has an article on former Children’s Laureate Quentin, his long career (more than 300 books he has worked on), his work encouraging youngsters to take up art and, of course, his famous collaboration with the legendary Roald Dahl as well as his latest, collaborating with Little Britain’s David Walliams on his first children’s book The Boy In The Dress. And I also note from the same article something I missed last week – Quentin Blake was given the prestigious J M Barrie Lifetime Achievement Award; richly deserved for both delighting so many children (and adults) and inspiring their imaginations.
