Comics and cartoons

Steve Holland’s Bear Alley has an exclusive peek into an upcoming new Dan Dare strip with John Ridgway for the well-respected Spaceship Away, leading on from the classic Frank Hampson-era Terra Nova story: “There are a few strange facts in the Terra Nova trilogy that I’m utilizing – whether they were there deliberately or by accident I don’t know. A lot of the work on the story will be using CGI – hopefully it won’t offend too many dedicated Dan Dare-ites.”

As Steve notes Dan has been interpreted by so many artists and writers over the decades it would be hard to be offended by the different look here, unless you are the sort of fan who enjoys being offended at anything. Besides, anyone in the Brit comics scene knows the Spaceship Away crew are pretty damned serious Dare fans and so I’d imagine most of us would always give them the benefit of the doubt in anything Dare-related because we know they will always try and do right by the character.
