Comics and cartoons

Fancy an exclusive, one-of-a-kind League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: the Black Dossier script signed by Alan Moore? There is just such a rare item up for auction right now on Ebay, where it and a companion piece of a signed original art poster for a local fundraising event (the wonderfully-titled Summer of Love and Bankruptcy Comedy Freak-out), being auctioned for a very good cause, to help fund alternative educational arrangements for students with special needs. The Black Dossier script is already up to a bid of £650, with nine days of bidding left to run, while the poster has reached £275 already. And in another related auction the same seller has three original comics., Embryo 1, 2 and 3, from Alan’s early days publishing on his local scene back in the late 60s, early 70s.

You might recall recently we mention a page of Dave Gibbons’ original Watchmen art which was also going on Ebay – Pádraig tells me that it finally sold for the whopping sum of $4, 062, almost enough to buy a bank these days.  A copy of Watchmen #11 went on Ebay recently for $399.99 and a copy of Seminar went for £268; Pádraig notes that the first one sold for £325 a month previously. (thanks to Pádraig Ó Méalóid for the link)
