“Barbie has always been on the tarty side and this is taking it too far. A children’s doll in sexually suggestive clothing is irresponsible – it’s filth,” Christian Voice – at least, that’s what they said according to the Sun, but I generally take what’s in a tabloid with a large pinch of salt (okay, large pinch of lo-salt, got to watch those levels!). What are they supposedly worked up about? A Black Canary version of Barbie. Hear that sound? Its the cracks in the foundations of civilisation opening up to swallow us whole… The fact that this isn’t likely to be sold to any kids (how many small girls these days know who Black Canary is?) but to adult collectors doesn’t seem to make much difference, but then these are folks who think a small, anatomically incorrect child’s doll is ‘tarty’. Assuming the tabloids haven’t just blown this all up out of nothing, of course. Lord know what they’d make of the more accurate and detailed deluxe Black Canary DC Direct has on the way in December.
