The music of the Who-iniverse

Film, TV and radio

The weekend saw a special two-part performance at the Proms, the annual classical music festival at the Royal Albert Hall. This year the music from Doctor Who was added alongside the classical repetoire, with Freema Agyeman hosting the event and a special scene written by Russell T Davies with David Tennant was screened. As is normal for the Beeb the concert is available on their listen again service for the next week – part one can be found here and part two is here. Warning, as well as Murray Gold’s wonderful music from the show the peformance also, for some strange reason, includes the bloody awful ‘fanfare for the common man’. At least you can fast forward through that bit. The running list for the performances can be found on the official Doctor Who site.

Okay, it was not the best performance of Fanfare For The Common Man – too brassy – but not too bad a piece to start with, ticking the old educate and entertain box.

BTW, thanks for a great site.
