You might remember a few weeks ago that news emerged that the financial backing for Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg’s proposed Tintin movie trilogy was looking as shaky as a high street bank. According to the Hollywood Reporter the boy reporter’s big screen revival may still go ahead, with Spielberg and Jackson in talks with Sony to co-finance the film in return for international distribution, while the film would still be in production at Paramount. As the HR piece points out while Paramount would retain the US distribution rights and rights to some other English language countries that might not be as lucrative as you might think, given that Tintin is often still more popular in non English language countries. At least its a sign the project is still going.
