The endless Remake Monster which dwells in Hollywood is trying to create a reworking of one of modern horror’s classic films, Clive Barker’s Hellraiser. I can understand remaking a sixty year old film for a modern audience, but I have to question why a twenty year old film requires a remake. However, it may not be all bad, as the Hollywood Reporter notes that the director Pascal Laugier has been approached to handle the movie for Dimension Films; as the HR article says Laugier is the man behind Martyrs, which created quite a stir in France and drew a large audience despite its 18+ rating; allegedly some cinema goers at the Toronto Film Festival screening fainted, which might be a problem for some films but for horror fans its actually a good sign…
