When music and comics collide – Claudio Sanchez signing at FPI

Claudio Sanchez, front man for the rock band Coheed and Cambria, is going to be combining music and comics in January and February: as the band are hitting the road with a UK tour Claudio, I’m pleased to say, will also be taking the opportunity to drop into a number of the Forbidden Planet International stores as the band moves round Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England to sign copies of the latest issue of Amory Wars. Actually, come to think of it this mixing of their musical tour with a comics signing tour of the British Isles seems perfect since the comics go along with their albums, both different media combining to tell an ongoing science fiction epic. Here are both the music and comics gig dates:

Update: please note that these events will actually be ticketed. Because London sucks

  3. Andrew Says:

What idiot decided to put the times on so late? so preetymuch a lot of people would miss them due to queueing up for the gig..

  4. Emopork Says:

Will he/they only be signing copies of issue 5 or can we bring along our other copies and get them done too. i’d really love to get SSTB vol 1 signed. If not, at leased ill still be getting vol 5 while im there.

  5. savo Says:

    i know, nothing in london!
    thats madness!

  6. Joe Says:

Emopork, what folks will sign is of course up to them, but most artists are usually happy to sign any of their works you bring along if you ask them nicely.

For the folks wondering about London, I’m afraid we don’t have a branch there, hence we’ve no signing organised there, sorry!

  7. adam Says:

why arnt they stopping in newcastle =(

  8. Matt Says:

Awesome! I’ve never been to anything like this, can we just show up? As in without any calling beforehand or anything?

  9. Alex Says:

Lame. *dreams of meeting Claudio are crushed*

  10. Joe Says:

Matt, yes, the signings in the stores aren’t ticketed or anything, you can just turn up and bask in the intoxicating mix of comics and rock goodness.

  11. Matt Says:

Ah cool! Thanks for the reply.

  13. Liane Says:

good luck getting any more than ten people in the Glasgow shop ;)
(Claudio’s hair is worth about 2 people in itself, hehe. but we love it.)
i will definitely be there with my dad!

  14. michael Says:

will i be able to get all my comics and cds signed or just the one

i have the five comics and the sketchbook and the cds

    ?

  15. Joe Says:

Depends on the time and the band, Michael – most folks are happy to sign what they can if you ask them nicely, will depend on how busy it is and how much time is left, but won’t hurt to ask them.

  16. Scottyboy Says:

I’ll be at the Brum signing with my 11 year old son to get my Amory Wars 1-5 signed and to show Claudio my Keywork Logo tattoo. Claudio seems like an ace bloke so i can’t see any probs with a few pics being taken. As long as people aren’t bringing their entire C&C collections in to get signed, i don’t think anyone will mind – depends on how many peeps turn up for each signing. As for no signings in London – makes a change, London isn’t the centre of the universe as some people make it out to be!!

  17. Scottyboy Says:

Hi, me again! I’ve just spoken to a very nice gent called Dave at the Brum shop and he said it’s a ticketed event. If you’re planning to go to any signing, i’d advise ringing them first to make sure as places are limited.

  18. Sherri from Evil Ink Says:

The signings will be ticketed events, with free tickets being passed out at each location. If you don’t get a ticket, you may queue up and wait, but I highly suggest going and picking up a ticket now. The reason the signings are at the designated times, is so that the band can travel and soundcheck before coming to each store. We are currently trying to accommodate a London in-store so check for updates on either http://www.myspace.com/evilinkcomics or http://www.coheedandcambria.com/ Claudio will sign the other issues of The Amory Wars as well as #5. Claudio is psyched to do these signings as they’re the first ones he’s ever done in the UK.

  19. Laura Says:

what if we live over an hour away n cant get tickets n neve get to meet him by waiting? gonna be gutted man!! hes gotta see my coheed tattoo!! i am obsessed with coheed an the amory wars….any parking nearby anyone in nottingham?

  20. Sherri from Evil Ink Says:

Laura, There is no guarantee of getting in without a ticket, but you can ring the individual store and ask if there are still tickets available, or queue up early and if the signing moves rapidly, it may work out. Claudio is hoping to meet as many people as possible in the time he has available before he has to return to the venue for the show.

  21. Nikilala Says:

    I GETS TO GO!
