(Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the Comedian and Carla Gugino as the first Silk Spectre in the Watchmen movie, (c) Warners/DC)
Over on the Times’ Blockbuster Buzz Michael Moran points us to a short featurette on the women of Watchmen (‘Watchwomen’? No, that sounds like a story about stalkers…), with Carla Gugino talking about playing Sally Jupiter, the first Silk Spectre and Malin Akerman about playing her daughter and successor, Laurie. There’s a nice glimpse of the Minutemen group in the clip and I like some of the background details from that period, such as an image of Sally Jupter’s 1940s Silk Spectre painted on the side of a World War Two bomber. In other Watchmen news the brand spanking new hardback edition of the graphic novel just hit the shelves today.

Wow, I don’t think much of that cover. It’s not Gibbons is it? Look at the expression on Sally’s face, nippleless Jon, assymetrical Rorschach and Veidt with a mullet.

AND WHERE IS THE COMEDIAN’S SMILEY BADGE?????

You’re right, Allan, the famous badge seems to have been forgotten. I’m not convinced by the art either – nice edition of the book but the cover art just isn’t at the level I’d expect.
